H. R. Giger's work!!

Vintage Myth - Doesn't have to look old to be vintage.

It always seems impossible till it's done. - Nelson Mandela.

Heyydeee Hi ladies, gentleman, boys and girls! It has been 2 weeks since my last blog post so lets make this one a gooden!! So much has gone on, (or not gone on) in the past couple of weeks, the days grow shorter and people become complacent in there ways into what there doing. I have finished all the immediate work that needed doing and over the past week have been looking at the dreaded dance off (sorry that's Strictly!) Whilst on the subject of Strictly Come Dancing, Susanna and Kevin are through to the Final this coming week which I am ecstatic about! Anywho back to the dreaded contextual study which we have to do is complete a 2000 word essay on which I will discuss in the next paragraph, (oooo I do like to keep you guys reading on). In other news a friend in Foundation says that many people die around her birthday and this year has been no different, we have lost so many fantastic people over the past weeks and months and I send my respects and condolences out to the families, most predominately the late Nelson Mandela who is one of the most inspirational and influential people to have ever walk on this Earth! What a man he was and changed the world.

These past weeks I have been thinking about who I should base my contextual study on, as there is many illustrators and artists out there in the world, narrowing it down became difficult and felt a bit like Simon Cowell deciding who is the next big thing! Was a good but hard choice. I initially went for Uzi Emperado as I love looking at stuff that comes from the dark side and his twisted nature that he endears throughout with the graphic nature which would make your mum cry. Some of his pieces are extremely graphic and derogatory but fascinating and capture my imagination and mind. I quickly realized that his history and influences don't exist as he isn't big enough in the art world.
H. R. Giger came to mind from a dear friend and began looking at his work and how he is known for Alien so there and then I began planning an essay around him and his alien Sci-fi work that is controversial but tamer than Uzi yet keeping the idea of changing the human figure into something more beautiful. His extraordinary attention to detail that comes across is mind blowing and influences me as he keeps his work dark and surreal but doesn't over do it with blood and bones as his work is more about challenging the impossible. I will keep you guys updated with the goings on and how I will progress my work and the influences into what Giger wanted to achieve.

Personal Life...
CHIRSTMAS is coming quick and fast. I love Christmas but I am becoming a Grinch of late and I am yet to feel Christmasy as I am always working at College or working at the races and Xmas parties. I decided to try Christmas Shopping in Liverpool yesterday... what a mistake, Town was packed and couldn't move! Oh the jobs of life!! Even drinking Christmas drinks isn't helping. On the good side! Sister has come home from Uni and brother is back tomorrow which I am looking forward to. Glen is doing jolly good, Looking forward to seeing him over the next couple of weeks as well! So all is ok in the world of me. Let the merriments continue!!!

Francis Bacon without the Cheese...

Final piece on Fabric
Portrait of Pope Innocent X

Vintage Myth - The clothes will never fit perfectly.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. - Winston Churchill

Guys it has felt like a lifetime since my last blog post but has only been 5 days! Wow how time has stood still, what felt like 5 years was only 5 days! The merriment's or what will be misery begin... My personal Statement for University is finally complete and ready to be sent off once I have finalised my choices and paid the money they want for being the middle man. What a past few days it has been! Finalising the previous project off and have now began the painting project which I am enjoying as it involves analysing a piece of work by an artist. Another event is happening this week which is that all the work up to now has to be handed in which am nervous about but will let you know the occurrences that come from that next week.

This post I will keep it brief! Finalising off a project is a relief as a lot of you will know, so when I finished annotating the 50 experimental posters I dropped my pen and awoke from the trance that I had become trapped in and began looking at my work and how far I had come. The final piece on fabric is representative of a lot of hard work and would have photographs of a babies and fathers head in the hands of the skeleton. I really enjoyed that topic as it allowed me to explore current politics rather than having to look back in time at previous movements and concentrates on current affairs. I finally moved onto the painting project this afternoon and began analysing a 'Portrait of Pope Innocent X' which was based on a photograph before being glorified and taken to a new level of rotten disgust. This piece intrigues me and gets my blood pumping as I fall for anything that is of this nature with the use of bright garish colours that are lifted from the page with the blackened background! Huge fan of his work and what his work represents!!
I hope to continue looking at his work and exploring the dynamics into what his work tells us as the audience and how I can be influenced by his work.
